Traveling to the United States in COVID-19

As travel restrictions and lockdowns ease we are sure many are feeling the itch to travel! Scratch that itch and come and visit the United States! With so many beautiful cities and sights to see there is a place for everyone. Follow along as we help you with your plans to travel to the United States in COVID-19.

International Travel Requirements and Recommendations

Don’t Travel If…

- **Do not travel** if you have tested positive and have not completed your isolation (10 days either no symptoms or after the test)

- **If you must travel** before the end of isolation on days 6-10 of isolation ensure you wear a well-fitting mask.

- **Do not travel** if you had close contact with someone who tested positive and have not completed isolation - get tested five days after contact.

- **Do not travel** if you are waiting for results.

The CDC recommends to hold off on any traveling plans until you are fully vaccinated and/or plan to wear a mask and follow local guidelines.

Who Can Travel to the United States Right Now?

What Does it Mean to be Fully-Vaccinated?

- Two weeks (14 days) after receiving a single dose

- Two weeks (14 days) after receiving a second dose or more

- Two weeks (14 days) after receiving a second dose of any mix-match of an accepted vaccine

Accepted Vaccines:

- Single dose: Janssen (J&J)

- Double does: Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, Astra Zeneca, Covaxin, Covishield, BIBP/Sinopharm, Sinovac, and Novavax/Covovax

Traveling Unvaccinated

If you are unable to receive a vaccination before traveling ensure that you follow these additional guidelines to ensure safe travel for both you and those around you:

- At a minimum of 1-3 days before traveling go for a anti-viral test

- While on your trip ensure you wear a mask, follow local guidelines and restrictions, wash your hands and/or sanitize (60%+ alcohol).

- After, once you get home you should get a viral covid test 1-3 days upon arrival, self-monitor your symptoms, follow state and local recommendations and quarantine if possible.

Traveling to the United States by Air

For those planning to arrive to the States through flying, keep in mind:

- Testing is required for passengers 2 years of age and older from a foreign country - a negative test taken no more than one day prior to arrival.

- And/or documentation of recovery. For example; your viral test on a sample taken no more than 90 days before your flight and a letter from a licensed physician or public health official stating that you are clear.

Traveling to the United States by Land

The United States is welcoming full-vaccinated foreign nationals to enter through land borders from Canada and Mexico for nonessential purposes. As of January 22, 2022 in-bound non-U.S travelers must be fully vaccinated and have the appropriate documentation to prove so.

Upon entry you must:

- Verbally attest to COVID-19 vaccination status

- Provide proof of CDC approvate vaccination

- Present a valid Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative-compliant document such as a Passport

- Be prepared to present any other relevant documentation at the request of US customs during a border inspection
