While Miami is known for its incredible sunshine and hot weather, not every day can be perfect. On those days where it does happen to rain, you may be wondering what fun activities you can still do while staying dry. Here is a list of the top things to do on a rainy day in Miami!

Go Indoor Ice Skating

Indoor ice skating is the perfect way to escape the rain (and take a break from Miami’s intense heat), while having fun and being active! You can visit the Kendall Ice Arena - Miami’s main ice sports training and recreation centre - to participate in public skating.Or, if you’re looking for something a bit more unique, check out Basement Miami. Basement contains a more intimate, 2,000 square-foot indoor ice rink that becomes illuminated with colour-changing lights. Basement is also home to a four-lane bowling alley for additional indoor fun!

See a Movie

What better way to spend a dreary day than to escape into a film. Miami offers multiple theatres, providing you with your choice of movie-going experience. If you’re in the mood to spoil yourself, visit CMX Cinemas, a luxurious theatre inside Brickell City Centre that comes equipped with plush reclining seats, and delicious food and drinks to enjoy while you watch!Another option if you’re feeling nostalgic is MDC’s Tower Theater Miami, which opened in 1926 and resides as one of Miami’s oldest cultural landmarks. Stop by Tower Theater in the heart of Little Havana to immerse yourself in a niche art film.

Visit an Immersive Art Exhibit

Let’s face it, an art gallery can sometimes be a snooze-fest. But have no fear, there is a much more interesting option in order to stay engaged while enjoying artwork - immersive art exhibits! Miami is home to Superblue, an immersive art experience in which you can walk through a mirrored labyrinth, observe transcendent floor-to-ceiling digital installations, and be engulfed in light-based displays.Another location includes ARTECHOUSE, which currently contains an immersive experience in which you are transported 100 years into an imagined future through technological art installations.

Hit Balls at Topgolf

Typically, golf is a sport that can be hindered by rainy weather - Not Topgolf! Topgolf is a climate controlled, sheltered driving range that allows you to enjoy the fun of playing golf without worrying about getting wet. This activity is suitable for all ages and is a great way to stay active despite the less than favourable weather.

Explore a Science Museum

It’s never a bad time to expand your scientific knowledge, and luckily, the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science has everything you need to do just that. This museum has a multitude of intriguing exhibits to quench your thirst for knowledge, while keeping you highly entertained. The museum is home to an aquarium, a planetarium, a Sherlock Holmes exhibition and more, that will be sure to keep you engaged while you learn!

Have you ever wanted to be transported into a movie? Or wanted to be a part of the Scooby-Doo gang, helping to solve a mystery? If so, you absolutely have to try to complete an escape room! Escape rooms are interactive games in which you and a group of friends/family must complete a series of puzzles in order to escape a room, or series of rooms, within a time limit. Typically, these games have a themed narrative or mystery that you are meant to solve in order to complete the puzzle.Check out Escape Hunt Miami, where you can choose from multiple games, such as locating Blackbeard’s treasure before his ship breaks apart, breaking into a secret lab to retrieve an antidote to a deadly virus, and more!

Shop ‘Til You Drop

I, for one, find retail therapy to be the perfect remedy for the rainy day blues, and Miami has plenty of shopping mall locations to visit. Whether you’re just looking to window shop, or if you have some cash burning a hole in your pocket, Dadeland Mall and Aventura Mall are two of many indoor shopping centres you can check out in Miami.
