The Buffalo History Museum

In the northwest corner of Delaware Park, the Buffalo History Museum is located where the rich history of Buffalo is on display. Even if you are not a fan of museums, you must visit this well-designed building. The three-story building covers the history of Buffalo like no other. Be it politics, sports, culture, arts, you name it—this place has got everything. You will lose track of time because of the amazing architecture of the building!

The artifacts from native Americans and the Pan American Exposition (1901) are on display. Moreover, sports history is displayed, including pictures and shirts for football, basketball, and baseball. There is also a lot of information about World War II when immigrants were sent to the U.S. to settle in Buffalo.

Lastly, it is a great place to relax. During springtime, you will find some of the prettiest cherry blossoms there. Also, the cost to enter the museum is pretty cheap! You will enjoy this place and learn a lot there.

Silo City

You can call this place a ghost industrial area or a living museum; this place is like no other.

On the south shore of the buffalo river lies Silo City, which has 30-grain elevators, worlds one of the greatest collections of elevators. The place that once provided wheat and flour all around the world is left abandoned, but it stands there as a legacy. Now, it has also become a great community where different artists and performers visit.

From the top of the city, you will get an amazing view of the silos. Also, go inside the grain silos and get amazed by how everything used to work there. If you have any teenagers with you, they will love all the heights and mechanical things.

Finally, you must visit Duende, located in the heart of the city, a famous bar that is perfect for relaxing. Fun fact: The word duende is derived from a Spanish word meaning the soul of an artist! The bar also has an indoor performance area and an outdoor stage with beautiful silo views and magnificent sunlight.

Delaware Park

In the heart of Buffalo, this place has got everything. You can visit a zoo and art museums, walk the trails, and there are many places to eat and drink. Nature and Delaware Park go hand in hand with lots of scenic attractions to enjoy. It is truly a hidden gem.

The terrace at Delaware Park is one of the favorite patios where you can eat, drink, and relax. There’s also a raw bar with many fresh seafood options. And don't miss the stone pedestrian bridge when you walk through Park Rumsey's woods section.

Also, don't forget the Buffalo AKG Art Museum if you are a fan of public art. Lastly, rent a flamingo boat in Hoyt Lake and get the most amazing view.

Japanese Garden

The Japanese garden is the definition of simplicity and minimalism. The natural setting of the garden inspires reflection and meditation. Buffalo's Japanese Garden made a lot of major contributions in terms of renovation from the city of Kanazawa, Japan. The unique stone lanterns, paths, shrubs, and trees are all Kanazawa's contributions.

During springtime, you will get to see lots of cherry trees when they are in full blossom. It's a well-kept place and is very quiet. You can take a stroll behind the museum from the parking lot and get to this scenic place.

Buffalo Central Terminal

Buffalo Central Terminal was an active railroad station from 1929 to 1979. At its time, it used to be a major transportation facility in the U.S. The East Side festival showcases the Buffalo Central Terminal and is organized really well. The entertainment there is unreal, the music, the crowd, and everything is great.

The building itself is a stunning work of art, but it needs a lot of work. And you might not like the 2-3 hour long tour with their guides. Still, it's worth visiting

The Colored Musicians Club of Buffalo

A trip back in time, this club is the pride of African-American heritage, the only all-black-owned music venue in the U.S. If you love black history and music, this place is for you. The club promotes historical research and preservation of jazz.

Members provide free jazz lessons and hold a jam session every once in a while. Jazz geniuses such as CG Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, and Miles David once played at this club.

You can take one of the guided tours to explore this place. A non-profit organization in Buffalo, NY, known as Explore Buffalo, offers this tour as part of the Michigan Street African American Heritage tour. It is one of the best ways to visit this club.

Eternal Flame Falls

In Shale Creek Preserve, you will find some of the most mysterious and unique "eternal flames". It is believed to be lit thousands of years ago by native Americans and is around 8 inches tall. To this day, it's a mystery how this flame is still alive and burning.

It is a great destination for hiking that is quick and well-marked. Get waterproof shoes for your walk as the path goes through the river and the stairs there are muddy. It's a beautiful trail, and the creek is easy to navigate. And the flame there is something that you have never seen before.

If you're planning to visit that place, bring a lighter. Because the flame might be eternal, but when winds blow water into the grotto, it goes out sometimes.

Ice Bikes of Buffalo

A great canalside activity, the bikes there are easy to ride, and it's a unique and fun way to get around the ice. And if you are someone who is not good with skates, then ice bikes are a must for you. Enjoy it with your family or friends, and have a blast.

Elevator Alley Kayak

If you are looking into kayaking, this company is a great attraction to look into. The place where you rent a kayak is within a large building that has an amazing restaurant, brewery, and kombucha.

What's more? This spot is super cheap, and so is the rent for kayaks! All the equipment there gets disinfected after every use. There are two routes for kayaking with amazing views. You will definitely enjoy this not-so-touristy attraction.

Even the residents of Buffalo who lived there their entire lives find double-decker bus tours to be really informative, and you will, too.

Downtown Buffalo

When you visit Buffalo and drive through downtown, you'll be amazed by the architecture there, which has various styles and eras. There are lots of hidden images of Buffalo everywhere you go. All in all, you will find Art Deco to be the most influential architectural style in Buffalo. It has bold and decorative elements to it.
