The beautiful urban park, also known as the Bar Harbor Park, overlooks the town pier and Frenchman Bay at the end of West Street. It is right next to the streets filled with restaurants and shops. Grab a spot on the grass or bench to take a moment from all the touristy crowd and soak in the beauty of all the views. Also, when you’re in the park, take a walk down to the famous Shore Path, which follows the shoreline from Bar Harbor Inn for about two-thirds of a mile. If you really want to see how gorgeous Agamont Park truly is, dedicate an early morning walk to this beautiful place and see the stunning sunrise glimmering through the sky.

What to Know

There are lots of parks in Bar Harbor but Agamont Park is something you don’t want to miss. The best thing about Agamont Park is relaxing on the grassy banks with beautiful views of the ocean and nearby islands. It’s a nice retreat from all the tourists buzzing in the city. When you enter this park from Main Street, you will see a wonderful water fountain. It is also a popular place to watch the Fourth of July fireworks each year. With lots of benches and shades to get out of the sun for a while, you will find this place quite relaxing. Have a picnic there and look out at the shops anchored in Frenchman Bay.

How to Get There

If you are in Bar Harbor, you will cross this park multiple times. When using your private car, it is better to not use the usual West Street Roadway to the pier to get to Agamont Park, because it might be blocked due to all the crowds from cruise ship passengers getting or leaving tour buses. In such cases, use Main Street and turn to the first left which will take you to the back of Agamont Park, where you will be able to find a parking space. Park here or at the pier and enjoy your exploration.

The best way to get to this park is by booking a Bar Harbor tour which features this beautiful attraction. The Best of Bar Harbor Food Walking Tour takes you on a culinary trip through the scenic spots, restaurants, and local treasures of Bar Harbor including Agamont Park, the Bar Harbor Beach, and Balance Rock.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Agamont Park is when summer flowers are in full bloom, and you can see all the beautiful lush green space with gorgeous views of the water. A great way to appreciate the beauty of Agamont Park and all the surrounding salty coastal breezes is by walking and soaking up the sunshine.

Find a spot, and relax there with a view of the Harbor.
