The Oasis on Lake Travis, also known as “The Sunset Capital of Texas” is a gem tucked in the Austin Hill Country. Hundreds of tourists from all across the world visit this place to see the most beautiful sunset to ever exist. Beau Theriot, the owner of the Oasis had an idea, but he never knew that his idea would blossom into something like this.  While you’re in the lake way, the Oasis restaurant will definitely become your favorite to dine in. Located 450 feet above Lake Travis, it is the largest outdoor restaurant, spanning over 30 thousand square feet in Austin, Texas. It has amazing customer service, delicious food, gorgeous view of Lake Travis, and there is no need to make reservations beforehand. All in all, it’s a must-see place to visit in Austin.

What to Know 

It’s always better to arrive an hour before sunset if you want to catch the gorgeous sundown. Also, you will get the best service and great seating if you arrive early. If you don’t want to sit at your table for sunset viewing, you can roam the decks and enjoy the views. And if your table is not ready then you won’t be bored while waiting. You can grab a drink from the bar and enjoy the views. Visit the Oasis Gift Shop and discover many local artists. Marvel at the beauty of the Sculpture Garden and lastly, check out the band playing at our free live music venues. 

The decks at this Oasis are not pet-friendly, so it’s wise to not bring your pets. And there is no boat access to Lake Travis provided by the Oasis. Moreover, if you want to celebrate a special event at the Oasis, you can bring your flowers, balloons, cake etc. You will absolutely love this place because of its breathtaking views. 

How to Get There

You can travel there via a public bus or a light-rail transit. The first bus that goes to Oasis on Lake Travis in Austin is the 803, it stops nearby at 5:03 am. The last bus that goes is the 3, and it stops there at 12:50 am. And the first light rail that travels to Oasis is 550, and it stops there at 6:15 am, the last one is 803 stopping at 7:48 pm. Also, the parking at the Oasis is free.

The best time to visit the Oasis is May through August when the weather is warmer and the place is packed with tourists. It’s a time when live music, restaurants, and other outdoor activities are the most enjoyable. Moreover, it’s a great time to visit this place to catch the most spectacular sunset and spend a really nice day on the water.
